Research Activities as Effort to Improving Mathematics Teacher Professionalism

If we as teacher want to renewal mathematics education so mathematics education research will be necessary. Besides from formal legal aspect the activity of mathematics education research either by teacher, lecture or teacher’s candidate it will give advantage. With mathematics education research we can know there is a individual or group different in mathematics learning, we can determine students position in their group that can compare learning outcomes among the group. We also can do examine suitability between learning purpose and learning outcomes, whether standard competencies already achieved or not yet. Results from research can use to perfection program, guidance, giving information to public. Besides that we also can compare between performance and criteria for each program dimension, perfection program and conclude overall mathematics education result. Then we can study about program implementation, learning environment influence, program influence, curriculum or syllabus of learning results, and in the end it use to perfection overall mathematics education program.
Not exaggerating if teachers be given a input as suggestion that education research activity always stick with mathematics learning activity. More specific, before mathematics learning held the teachers need to do preparation:
Planning mathematics learning environment
  • Determine the source of the necessary teaching
  • Determine flexible activity
  • Determine physical environment of mathematics learning
  • Involve students to make mathematics learning environment
Developing student social environment 
  • Determine cooperation activity 
  • Encourage students to respect each other
  • Browse students feel about mathematic
  • Develop mathematics model
      Planning mathematics activity
  • Determine mathematics activity that balanced in terms of : material, time, difficulty, activity and so on
  • Determine open-ended mathematics activity
  • Determine mathematics activity according to students ability
  • Develop mathematics topic and build mathematics mental
  • Use various teaching resources
