Realistic type that has characteristic buttom-up approach is the students developing model themselves and then that model be basic to developing the formal mathematics. There is two kinds that occur in that process namely model of situation and model for formal mathematics.
With observation and analysis on VTR about mathematics learning, that has been recorded a teacher that has implement mathematics learning with realistic approach, so other teachers can exam and search alternative development in order to get concept or idea about concrete objects and surroundings objects that can use as mathematics learning context to developing linkages mathematics through social interaction.
Mathematics learning models that has been recorded into VTR sure has excess and deficiency. So the teachers can discuss it to get new knowledge with comparing their experience. As for VTR also have deficiency, like limited point of view, not all aspect could be recorded, image quality, shooting moment that is not appropriate.
Use of VTR in mathematics education with realistic approach can give benefit as follow:
  1. The teachers get chance to verify concrete things and surrounding objects can use as mathematics learning context to developing linkages of mathematics through social interaction
  2. The teachers get chance to discover and reflecting concept of realistic mathematics learning
  3. The teachers get chance exchange experience with other teachers about realistic mathematics learning development
  4. The teachers get chance to reflect preparation mathematics teaching learning process in junior high school appropriate with PMRI principles
  5. The teachers get chance to reflect  learning resources development to mathematics teaching learning process in junior high school appropriate with PMRI principles
  6. The teachers get chance to reflect assessment activity development for mathematics teaching learning process in junior high school appropriate with PMRI principle
